This time of year pumpkins are in abundance, and as soon as Halloween is over, the supermarkets are practically and in some cases literally giving them away.  Pumpkins are so versatile and a great source of nutrition, so if you need some inspiration of what to do with pumpkins then look no further. Savoury Pumpkin Recipes

In previous years the most adventurous I’ve got is making my Slow Cooker Spicy Pumpkin soup. However it is a great recipe, and a lovely warming soup to have after an autumnal walk.

Spicy Pumpkin Soup

This year however I wanted to try some new recipes, so I turned to my fellow bloggers for some inspiration.

I love this Pumpkin gut bread , literally made from the guts of the pumpkin when hollowing them out ready for carving.  This one is definitely on the to do list.  This blog post also has so great tips on how to cook pumpkins in general and how to create your own pumpkin puree.

If bread and soup aren’t your thing then why not try this really simple baked stuffed pumpkin recipe which looks absolutely delicious!

Pumpkin is also a great addition to other recipes, like in this winter warming beef, beer and pumpkin stew.

Or how about in a pie? like this Pumpkin and chicken pie recipe.

I love a chilli con carne, and often do mine in the slow cooker. However, I have not thought about adding pumpkin to it before, but after seeing this Slow cooker beef and pumpkin chilli con carne recipe, I think I might be next time.

There are also lots of recipes that use Butternut squash as a main ingredient, and these can easily be adapted and the squash substituted for pumpkin as in this Butternut Squash and Asparagus risotto.

Sweet Pumpkin Recipes

If sweet treats are more your thing, then why not try one of these delicious pumpkin recipes. Pumpkin pie is well known, but not overly celebrated here in the UK. Why not try this Honey spiced pumpkin pie

Or this Gluten free pumpkin pie recipe.

I like the idea of pumpkin brownies, and I came across a few recipes to try. There are these Pumpkin Spice Brownies which look delicious!

Or you could try something a little healthier like these healthy chocolate brownies or these vegan double chocolate pumpkin brownies.

If biscuits are more your thing, then why not give these Pumpkin spiced oat cookies a go.

This baked pumpkin doughnut recipe uses canned pureed pumpkin but you could easily make your own pumpkin puree but roasting a pumpkin and then pureeing the flesh and then draining it.

Or for a sticky indulgent dessert look at this Vegan pumpkin cheesecake!

So many recipes to choose from! Hopefully this has given you some inspiration to turn those unwanted pumpkins into fantastic culinary creations. However if you would like more inspiration, check out out Halloween Food board on Pinterest.
