So this year we have decided to join in the madness that is ‘Elf on the Shelf’. The children have read the book that came with our Elf, so hopefully they understand ‘the rules’. They have named him ‘Buddy’. Very original I know, but we all love the film ‘Elf’ so I suppose it was inevitable.
With Christmas just around the corner, in our household we start to indulge in Christmas crafts. This is a really simple handmade Christmas card idea that even very young children can do with minimal parental input.
I love pate, but I tend to only eat it at Christmas time for some reason. The last few years I have made my own, and in my opinion (and those who I have served it to!) it beats what you can buy from your supermarket. It freezes well so can be made in advance, and I tend to make in bulk to serve on numerous occasions over the festive period.
Nothing quite sums up the taste of Christmas than a mince pie with brandy cream! As i’m not a huge lover of pastry, I decided to set about trying to make a cheesecake as a twist on the classic mince pie, that incorporated all these festive flavours in a delicious dessert perfect for the upcoming holiday season.
