Dippy’s Theatre at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure

[AD-Gifted tickets] Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure is one of our favourite places to visit in Norfolk with the kids. Every year the park are constantly making improvements and adding additional attractions. During the recent half term we were invited to check out the latest addition, the all new Dippy’s Theatre.

Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure is a family-owned park located near Lanwade between Norwich and Fakenham. It has 25 themed dinosaur attractions all included in the admission price, spread out over 85 acres. It also includes large play areas, catering outlets, an animal farm and a deer park.

We have been visiting the park since the kids were babies. There really is so much to do for the whole family, and attractions cater for children of all ages. My kids always request a visit when we go up to our static caravan in Norfolk.

This year we were invited back to Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure to check out their latest new addition of Dippy’s Theatre.

The New Dippy’s Theatre

Dippy’s Theatre is a new 228 seat interactive theatre that opened on the 29th May. It’s located next to the Dinomite Indoor Adventure Play, and hosts interactive shows with Dippy and his friends, as well as meet and greets and screenings of pre-historic themed movies throughout the day.

We went to one of the interactive shows. As you enter the theatre there’s a little kiosk where you can buy soft drinks and sweets for the show, which feels like you are going to the cinema.

The theatre itself has a large 2D screen and stage, all of course with dinosaur and prehistoric themed decorations.

The interactive show is probably aimed at children slightly younger than mine, however they both still really enjoyed it and got involved, especially with the loud roaring! They also enjoyed seeing Dippy and the other charcters including Raz the Raptor, Paris the Parasaur and Terry the Pterosaur (Oliver’s favourite- he has his own Terry at home).

Dippy’s Theatre is all included in the price, and you don’t need to book, it’s first come first served. However do remeber that due to current Covid restrictions to theatre is not at full capacity, so make sure you get there a little bit earlier to avoid dissapointment.

Currently Dippy’s Movie Time is at 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm every day. The interactive Dippy and friends show is at 2.30pm and 4.30pm with a meet a greet at 3.30pm.

What Else We Got Up To at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure

The Dinosaur Trail

No trip to Dinosaur Adventure would be complete without doing the Dinosaur trail! Even though they have done it loads of times, the kids love running through the trail and now reading and learning about all the different dinosaurs.

Predator High Ropes

Since it opened in 2018 it’s another must-do for the kids when we visit. It is a 34m long high ropes adventure course and parrellel sky rails, with 3 lanes and 2 levels of difficulty to choose from. You can go back and forth as you please as long as there is only one person on each element at a time (excluding parents helping their children).

If you are planning on doing it then you must wear closed in shoes, long hair must be tied back, and not skirts or dresses. Children over 1m can go on the high ropes if accompanied by an adult, and if they are 1.2m they can go on unaccompanied. It looks scary, but is perfectly safe and you are securely strapped into a harness. There are some other restrictions so check on the website if you’re not sure. Currently open 11am-4pm on weekends and school holidays.

Dippy’s Splash Zone

Another of the kids’ firm favourites in the summer is Dippy’s Splash Zone. You have to book a half hour slot, which you do on the day of your visit, but it’s all included in the price. My kids love watching the big bucket fill up with water and then stand underneath it when it empties.

Plenty of Room to play!

One of the things I love about the park is that there is so much much space, and loads of outdoor play equipment. The kids are quite happy running around whilst us adults take a well earned break on the many picnic tables dotted around the park. They also love the A-mazing Adventure and have great fun playing on the bongos.

There really is so much to do, and we struggle to fit it all in! But with so much variation in attractions, it means that no two visits are the same and one of the reasons we come back year and year.

This visit we didn’t even get a chance to do the pedal carts, crazy golf, Dippy’s raceway or go into the Dinomite Indoor soft play area.

The new Dippy’s Theatre adds another dimension to the already diverse range of attractions at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, and as everything is included in the admission price, makes a family day out that I’ve always thought was geat value for money even better.
