[Ad-Gifted. Post Contains affliate Links] Chalk markers are a great addition to any craft kit, and are especially good for kids crafts. We made these simple Chalk Marker Pen Pots using some Chalkola Chalk markers and recycled tin cans.
We were sent a pack of Chalkola chalk markers to try out. We had a pack of 10 Chalk markers in vintage colours. They were extremely easy to use, and I loved how clear and vibrant the colours were.

A Little Bit About Chalkola Chalk Markers
Chalkola have a wide range of chalk markers in different colours and nib sizes, and they can be used on a wide range of different media which makes them extremeley versatile.
On non porous surfaces such as metal, glass, ceramic, plastic and of course blackboards, they simple wipe off. So they are perfect for decorating windows, labelling jars and playing games or creating artwork on blackboards.
They can also be used on porous surfaces for a permanent finish such as paper, wood and terracotta pots. So can be used to decorate plant pots, wood slice ornaments or simply to create fantastic pictures.
Chalk markers are also ideal for kids to use. They are mess free unlike paint, non toxic, and dry really quickly which is fab for impatient children like mine.
I have a 10% discount code for the Chalkola US and UK site at the end of this post if you would like to try them out for yourself.
Isla came up with the idea of using the chalk markers to decorate a pen pot to keep them in. So that’s what we did, upcycled a boring old tin can into these bright, colourful pen pots.
So if you would like to see how we made our chalk marker pen pots, read on or pin for later.

What You Will Need
- Tin cans
- Blackboard paint
- Paint brush
- Chalkola chalk markers
How To Make Your Chalk Marker Pen Pots
- Wash and dry your tin cans and remove any labels and adhesive.
- Paint your tin cans with blackboard paint. You may need to do several coats depending on the paint you have. Ours took two coats to get a nice even finish.
- Then it’s time to get creative with your chalkola pens! I wrote the kids names on the cans, and then Isla decorated her pen pot herself. The markers are very easy to use so she was easily able to draw the lines, curves and patterns that she wanted to.
- That’s it! Our finsihed Chalk Marker pen pots. With the chalk markers there is virtually no drying time, so they are ready to use straight away.

So what do you think of our chalk marker pen pots? They were so simple to make, and I love how they turned out. Have you used chalk markers in craft projects before? I’d love to hear about it in the comments if you have.
If you would like to try out Chalkola Chalk Markers yourself, then you can get 10% off both the US and UK site using my discount code BLISSFUL10.

I love chalk marker pens, they are brilliant for craft projects. What a fun idea to cover tin cans with blackboard paint and decorate with chalk markers – the finished pen pots look great. #KidsandKreativity
