We were lucky enough to again be invited to the very luxurious Showcase Cinema de Lux at Bluewater shopping centre for a screening of Zog and The Highway Rat.
As a family we love going to the cinema. It gives us all a chance to relax, whilst being entertained, and of course the Pic and Mix helps too.
Saturday morning we headed down to our favourite cinema, Showcase Cinema de Lux at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. This time Daddy came too, and the kids were super excited for him to try out the cinema seats!
Showcase Cinema de Lux, Bluewater

The cinema is conveniently located within the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. As it’s within the shopping centre itself, it’s very accessible with nearby and free parking. It also means you can combine a shopping trip and cinema trip in one outing!
The kids, as always when we visit here, ran ahead and as soon as we were armed with our Pic and Mix and refreshments we made our way to the cinema screen.
The screening took place in one of the screens that has fully customisable reclining seats. These seats really are truly amazing, and extremely comfortable.
The individual seats are quite wide, so even if you have someone sitting next to you, you wouldn’t notice. Also, due to them being fully reclinable, you get loads of leg room in front of you, which means you literally feel like you’re the only ones in the cinema.
The kids took no time at all to get themselves comfy, full reclining their seats and settling down to watch the movies. Even I got to put my feet up, which if i’m honest rarely happens.

Zog and The Highway Rat
The screening itself was 2 short animated films of Zog and The Highway Rat based on the popular children’s books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, both of which are firm favourites in our house. Each film was approximately 30 minutes long, perfect for even very young children with short attention spans.
Zog is all about a young dragon going through dragon school. He is desperate to impress and tries hard to win a gold star each year. But alas he is a little clumsy and ends up with a few bumps and scrapes along the way. He befriends a young girl who helps to patch him up, and ultimately ends up helping him a lot more.
The Highway Rat is about a greedy rat who terrorises the other animals he comes across on the highway and steals their food. However, his gluttony and desire for sweet treats ends up being his undoing.
As suspected both kids really enjoyed the films, and I might have too! They were beautifully animated, and very true to the original books which we love. I’m sure children of all ages would find it hard not to enjoy them.

Showcase Cinema has 21 cinemas across the UK. To find your local one check out their website.
Ticket prices for the Showcase Cinema de Lux at Bluewater are £9.35 for an adult and £8.60 for a child, however it is always best to check with your local cinema on prices and availability.
If you do get to go to one of Showcase Cinema de Lux to see a movie, I’d love to hear what you think!

A great post and we frequently head to Bluewater ourselves as it’s not a million miles away from where we live. Once all the social distancing thing is over, we’ll look forward to little treats like the cinema every once in a while!
Yes, I’m glad we went as it may be the last time for a while. Makes you appreciate it more.
Sounds like a great thing to watch and thank you for making me your featured blogger last time#kidsandkreativity@_karendennis

This sounds so lovely! My twins love both of these 😀
What a lovely cinema to enjoy the films in. We have both of those recorded on our TV box and the children love them. #KidsandKreativity
