It seems like we have had a household of lurgy for ages now! However a few weekends ago I felt it was time for us all to get out of the house and get some fresh air. We are lucky enough to have this wood not too far from us, and this time of year it is carpeted with a beautiful array of bluebells.
Wandering in Bluebells
It was a lovely spring day, clear, dry but still with a crispness to the air that required us to don our coats and hats before heading out. We had all been suffering recently with colds and snuffles, but getting outside really does lift your spirits as you breathe in the clear air.
The beautiful wood at Arger Fen in Suffolk was the perfect place to wander around and blow out all the cobwebs, and this time of year there is a thick carpet of bluebells. The kids weren’t impressed with the smell, well Oliver wasn’t anyway, but no one could deny their beauty, and it was the perfect setting to while away a few hours.
The kids were armed with their bird spotter’s kit (Isla) and bug hunter kit (Oliver) which we bought from a National Trust shop a few weeks previous, and it didn’t take long for the binoculars and magnifying glass to come out!
The kids had a great time running around, and we were relaxed just wandering and taking in the scenery. Oliver just loves to run, so wherever he has a free reign and I am able to let him do so he is happy!
And of course there is mud, when are kiddies (and daddy!) not happy when there is some mud to play in. They had great fun trying to get their wellies stuck in the mud so daddy had to pull them free.
We all had a lovely afternoon, it was definitely what we all needed. I love spending time outdoors with the family, and can’t wait for the summer to arrive when we spend most of our time outdoors!
