My Blog Ambitions for 2017!

Blog Ambitions

Today marks the start of a new year, and my one year Blogversary! Exactly a year ago today I published my first blog post. I have learnt so much, but still have so much more to learn.  So instead on reflecting on my blogging year I thought I would concentrate on the year ahead and focus on my blog ambitions for 2017!

My Blog Ambitions for 2017

Be More Consistent

This is one of my main aims for 2017.  As they say content is king, but consistency is queen, and I really do believe this. When I started my blog I was able to get two or three posts out a week. Mid year I struggled with the work-life-blog balance and I struggled some weeks to even get one post done! This year i’m determined to be more organised and plan my blogging time better.  I’m aiming to get three to four posts out a week.  This might be a bit ambitious but i’m hoping it’s doable. Saying that at this point in time I have zero posts written for 2017, so will more than likely be attached to my computer for the next few evenings!

Social Media

As well as learning a lot about blogging over the past year, I also learnt a lot about social media.  Apart from Facebook it was all new to me! I would like to be more active on the social media channels, and hopefully generate more traffic to my blog.  I still need to work out how to schedule posts, and again I think it is all in the planning. Here are my stats and goals for the next year.

Twitter: I currently have just over 2500 followers, but would like this to double to 5000 by the end of the year. If you’d like to follow me, click here.

Facebook: I’ve struggled with Facebook to be honest, despite this being the only social media channel I was used to before I started the blog. Currently I have only 78 likes, but I would like to increase this to 500 if I can.  This might be slightly ambitious, but you’ve got to dream big! If you’d like to pop over a give me a little like, you can find my page here.

Instagram: Instagram is a new love of mine.  Now I’ve worked out how to link it to my Facebook and Twitter accounts it’s also become a useful tool.  I love the fact that I can see all my photos in one place, and it’s great to look back on. If you’d like to follow my Instagram journey click here.

Pinterest: I haven’t really used Pinterest, and I really must start! A lot of the blog posts I write are craft projects or recipes which would lend themselves nicely to Pinterest.  So I’m not aiming for a following as such, just that I start using it and pin some of my own posts.

Start Vlogging

This has been something on my to do list for a while now, but I always manage to put it off.  It’s a self confidence thing.  I naturally don’t like being in front of the camara, but I need to put my fears to one to side and be brave.  I also need to teach myself how to edit videos and put them together, i’m hoping I may be able to enlist the other half to help out with this bit!

Attend a Blog Conference

I’m not sure which one, but I would love to attend a blog conference this year.  It’s amazing how many great people you virtually meet through blogging, but I would really like to meet some of these people in person too!  I also think that a conference would be hugely motivational and help me be more focused with my blog.

Host my Own Linky Party

I’ve wanted to host my own linky for a while now, but hopefully this year will be when it happens.

I was really lucky to co-host #KCACOLS twice towards the end of last year.  I really enjoyed it, but it also made me realise how much work  goes into hosting them.  I’m hoping this year, with a bit more time to spend on my blog, I will be able to host a weekly linky.  The plan is it will be a linky for any posts that encourage creativity in kids, whether it be craft projects, cooking or imaginary play.  I’m hoping that it will give me some inspiration of ways to entertain my two as well as force me to take time out each week to do something creative with them.

Improve my Blog’s Ranking

I started this blog as a hobby, for an outlet for the creative side in me. That is still the case, and rankings shouldn’t bother me, however my competitive side wants to do better.  When I first registered on the Tots 100 site in March last year I ranked at 15o9, and i’ve only made it as high as 1014.  I would really love to break into the top 500, for no other reason than my own self gratification.

That’s it, my blog ambitions for 2017! I wonder how many of them I will be able to achieve. What are your goals for the forthcoming blogging year? Whatever they are have a good one!

Your goals are very similar to mine. I only started blogging in August so I’m still very new to it all.
It’s sounds like you have a very good idea where you would like to be this time next year so I’m sure you’ll have s fab year!

  • Emma and Family January 12, 2017 at 11:51 pm

Great goals, mine are very similar! Facebook is so tricky to build up likes isn’t it! I’m trying to get my head around how to use pinterest productively as well. Good luck!#KCACOLS

These sound sensible and achievable ambitions and now you’ve published them you have more incentive to stick to them! I’m with you on Pinterest – I want to sort that out this year! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday

I’m going to go to a blog conference this year but I’m not sure which one yet either! So hard to choose! #KCACOLS

    • Kerry January 16, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Maybe I need to ask the question on the #KCACOLS FB group?

  • ShinnersandtheBrood January 15, 2017 at 8:54 am

You seem to achieved so much in the year gone by! Well done. My social media round up would read pretty similar to yours (except will smaller numbers!) FB is where I struggle the most, I love Interest, I’ve embraced Twitter and I’m scared of Pinterest and know nothing about it! Good luck with your ambitions for 2017.

    • Kerry January 16, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Thank you. I think a lot of bloggers struggle with FB, I’m gald i’m not the only one! x

  • ShinnersandtheBrood January 15, 2017 at 8:55 am

    Ooop. VIsiting from #kcacols sorry!

  • Geraldine January 17, 2017 at 3:49 pm

I was all for imporiving stats and social media following also but I’m afraid the technical and social side of it all will dampen my love of writing the blog. Its all balance I suppose but I’m trying not to get caught up in numbers #KCACOLS

    • Kerry January 18, 2017 at 2:47 pm

It is easy to get caught up in the numbers, at the end of the day I will just continue to do what I love doing, and hope the numbers will follow! Thank you for your comment x

You have some great goals. One of my goals is to attend a blogging conference too, would be great to meet some other bloggers in person.

    • Kerry January 21, 2017 at 6:06 pm

Absolutely, just cant decide which one to go to!

  • Brenda May 9, 2017 at 11:12 am

I loved this post because I’m a new blogger, there’s so much to know about all the technical aspects of getting set up for success, then the commitment to being consistent and the time to be creative. I’m loving it so far, still learning so much. I still work my full time job & hope to retire within 5 yrs. My blog is mature Lifestyle with focus on travel, thrift shopping, health & beauty.

    • Kerry May 9, 2017 at 2:05 pm

Ah thank you. Your blog looks really professional if you’re only a new blogger! I loved the layout. I’ve given you a little follow on Insta and Twitter. Keep loving it, and good luck! Thanks for stopping by x
