10 Reasons Cabin Beds are Perfect for Children’s Bedrooms

Cabin Beds

If your children are anything like the mine, the more they grow the more ‘stuff’ they tend to accumulate.  I thought once we got rid of the high chairs, change tables and bulky bouncers I would have more space, but boy was I wrong. Instead they accumulate so many toys and books, and the older they get the bigger their toys get! They also seem to have great reluctance to get rid of anything from their younger years.

With this in mind, I am constantly on the look out for new ways to organise my children’s bedroom. The latest of which is we are considering purchasing cabin beds and here is why.

10 Reasons Cabin Beds are Perfect for Children’s Bedrooms

1. They Maximise Space

Due to the height, cabin beds are able to make the most of vertical space as well as horizontal.  This is particularly important in smaller bedrooms.  It means you can fit the bed and storage into the same footprint, maximise the available floor space for the children to mess up play in.

2. They are Versatile

There really is a cabin bed for every space and every child.  They come in low, mid and high sleepers.  Our children are still quite young, and we have fairly low ceilings upstairs so are looking at mid sleepers.

3. They are Practical

Cabin beds are a very practical option, and some can change with the child and your requirements, making them a very flexible option.  For instance, I want cabin beds to maximise storage space whilst my children are young. However as they get older, they may have less stuff but want sleepovers. Cabin beds have the ability to change with your child and the underneath space can be converted from storage to bunk beds.

4. They are Durable

We all know kids don’t really look after their belongings, and that includes their furniture. Cabin beds are  made from wood or metal, and are very durable sturdy piece of furniture, sure to withstand bumps and knocks.

5. They are Economical

As they are extremely flexible and can adapt as your child grows and for you particular requirements, cabin beds make a very economical choice of furniture.  They also have dual purpose and can incorporate other uses you just have to buy one piece of furniture, not several.

6. They Provide Additional Storage

One if the main reasons we are considering cabin beds is due to the increased storage. Contrary to how my house appears, I like there to be a place for everything and everything to be in its place. Having a cabin bed provides additional storage for toys and books, without taking up anymore floor space in the kids bedrooms.

7. They Can Have a Built in Desk

Now both my children are at school, it’s not long before they will start to get formal homework as well as their reading books.  They are at that age that they need a designated space and desk to do their homework in.  There are lots of designs of cabin beds that incorporate a desk. Again maximising on the space in the room, but allowing the kids to have a little work area.

8. They are Stylish

As well as being an extremely practical piece of furniture, they also look good.  This is a major plus for me.  I want my children’s bedrooms to be functional, tidy and fun but I also want them to look good.  Cabin bed designs are sleek and pleasing to the eye, and with a number of different finishes can fit in with any bedroom decor.

9. They are Fun!

The single fact that Oliver’s new bed will have a ladder is enough to get him excited. Lots of designs can also incorporate other features such as under bed dens, snugs and play tents.  Great for imaginative play and other adventures without even having to leave the bedroom!

10.  They Might Make Your Kids Want to go to Bed!

Now I Can’t promise you this, but it’s every parents dream, children that want to go to bed! And why wouldn’t they, when you have a bed that is as much fun as a cabin bed. If the kids get a good nights sleep, so does Mummy, and a well rested mummy is a much happier one.

So there you go, 10 reasons why I think cabin beds are perfect for children’s bedrooms.
