A Letter to My Daughter- Your First Day at School

September 1, 2016 7 Comments

Tomorrow is a massive milestone for my daughter, her first day at school! I felt I needed to write this, more for me than her, but hopefully she can look back at this and realise how much I love her, and how proud I am of her…

A Letter to My Daughter- Your First Day at School

Dear Isla,

Tonight you are sleeping, tomorrow is such a big day for you, your first day at primary school!

I wanted to say how proud I am of the little girl that you have become. You’re so clever and funny and you have amazed me every day of your life. I’ve watched you grow from a gorgeous baby, to an adventurous toddler, and now into the amazing little lady that you have become and that’s just the start.

Tomorrow starts a new journey of discovery, and you are so ready for it!  You are going to enjoy school so much. You are so ready for the new challenges that will face you. I’m certain you will thrive, and make new friends, enjoy new pastimes, and mummy and daddy couldn’t be more proud of you.

I know you’re scared. I know you are shy with new people and places, but I am confident that you will love every minute once you get over the initial jitters.

It’s OK to be scared. Mummy is scared too! Not because I think you wont like it, but because I want you to make the most of your school years, and in truth I will miss you.  This is the turning point of your transition from a pre-schooler to a little girl, and from there into a young women.

So Isla, I love you, more than you will ever know. I have watched you grow and develop your own unique personality, quirky habits and unique charm.  Every day you make me laugh and smile, and I still expect my morning snuggles no matter how old you are!

My heart will burst with pride when I see you tomorrow, all dressed in your new school uniform, my little princess moving on to the new chapter in her life. I can’t believe my little girl is all grown up! You will have an amazing first day at school, I love you so much and I am so so proud of you. Can’t wait to see how you grow!

Good luck baby girl

With love always

Mummy
