New Year's Eve Kid's Crafts

We are proud to be part of the Bostik blogger team, and each month we are sent a box full of themed crafty goodies to inspire us on our next crafty project.  This month our box was themed for New Year’s Eve crafts.  If I’m honest I’ve not thought of doing New Year’s Eve crafts before, but it was actually Isla that can up with the idea of doing party hats.  So after a little thought we set about making our hats.

New Year’s Eve Kid’s Crafts

So once we had decided we going to make party hats, it was quite simple.  Oliver wanted a hat, but unfortunately didn’t want to be involved with the making process, so I ended making his.

The first step was to cut two templates from 2 pieces of card. I used a template that I found on-line at Danielle’s Place, and cut out the shapes from some card. We then used some white glue to construct them into cones.

Me and Isla then decorated our hats with sequins and foam shapes. We used the Bostik foam pads as Isla found them a lot easier to use than using glue, and if I’m honest so did I.

We also made some streamers for the tops of our hats. We used some feathers and strips of crepe paper to make our topper, and used some tape around the base before popping it into the top of our hats.

To finish the hats off we needed some elastic.  Unfortunately I couldn’t find any elastic, so had to improvise and attach some ribbon with a stapler so that the hats could be tied on to the children’s heads.

I also decided to make some glasses for the kids to compliment their party hats. Sadly I couldn’t find a template for this,, so I drew one freehand on paper and altered it until it was kinda the right size. There was some fab sheets of sparkly foam card in the box, so I cut the glasses frames from these.

The arms of the glasses were attached using a stapler.  We then decorated them with some sequins attached by Bostik foam pads to cover the staples.

I cut a ‘2018’ out from some sparkly card, and attached each number to the glasses with foam pads.  It was Isla’s idea that instead of cutting circles out of the numbers to use goggly eyes, and I thought that was genius!

So the kids now have their party hats, and celebration glasses, and we are ready to see the New Year in in style!
