With Christmas just around the corner, in our household we start to indulge in Christmas crafts. This is a really simple handmade Christmas card idea that even very young children can do with minimal parental input.
We are lucky enough to be part of the Bostik blogger team, where each month we are sent a box full of themed crafty goodies to inspire us on our next crafty project. This month’s box was a bumper box of Christmas themed supplies. I suspect we will be producing several Christmas crafts from this box, but to start with I thought I would let the girls have a rummage and come up with some ideas.
The girls, like me, love all things sparkly and glittery, so when the saw the gems and sequins they decided on making a homemade Christmas card that they could decorate. Jasmine is yet to finish hers (she only spends one day a week with us), but Isla’s is all done ready to send to someone special.
Simple Homemade Christmas Tree Card
Isla wanted her card to be a Christmas tree. To start with I cut a Christmas tree shape from some green sparkly card. Isla then stuck this to the front of her greeting card using the Bostik foam pads. Not only do they give a great 3D effect to the Christmas tree, but Isla also found them really easy to use.
Using some Bostik White glue, I made some zig zag lines across the Christmas tree for tinsel. Isla then sprinkled glitter onto the glue (you can never have too much glitter!). When dry we tipped off the excess glitter and were ready to adorn our tree with gems and sequins.
Isla decided to use the little foam pads again to stick on the gems and sequins. She found them easier to use than glue (and less messy!), and I think it gives a really good result.
Just to finish off we stuck a little gold corrugated card at the bottom for the trunk.
Now all she has to do is decide who to send it to!
What do you think? Are you making any handmade Christmas cards this year?
