I made these bunny cake pops for the kids for Easter weekend, but they can be a cute treat any time of the year. As an added bonus they were surprisingly easy to make.
Bunny Cake Pops
These bunny cake pops were really easy to make. I started by making the little cake pops using my cool American Originals cake pop maker that I got for Christmas.
I used the recipe for chocolate cake pops that came with the instructions. It produced perfectly round little sponge cakes!
Decorating the Bunny Cake Pops
You Will Need:
- White candy melts (or baby pink if you prefer pink bunnies)
- Fun boxes of smarties
- Chocolate balls
- Large marshmallows
- Pink sugar sand
- Cake pop cakes (see above)
- Cake pop sticks
- Some polystyrene to stand the cake pops in whilst drying
How I Made Them
- Melt a small amount of white candy melts in the microwave following manufacturers instructions.
- Dip the end of the cake pop sticks into the candy melt before inserting them into the cakes. Refrigerate until set.
- Whilst you are waiting get together the decorations for the features. I used pink and purple mini smarties for noses and little chocolate balls for eyes.
- For the ears cut the marshmallows diagonally with some clean scissors, and dip the cut surfaces into pink sugar sand. Set the decorations to one side.
- Melt the white candy melts in a bowl following the manufacturers instructions.
- Cover each cake pop with candy melt. I found the easiest way to do this was by twisting slowly and using a spoon to help smooth them off. I suspect they may be better ways, but I wasn’t after perfection.
- Pop the cake pop in some polystyrene to stand it upright whilst it dries.
- Place a smartie for the rabbit’s nose and 2 chocolate balls for eyes. I had to use a cocktail stick snapped in half to secure the ears to the cake pop (make sure you remove these before giving the cake pops to very young children!).
- Then just leave to dry. As I said mine were far from perfect, but they made cute little cake pops that the kids loved, and tasted delicious!
