Simple Easter Artwork

Easter Artwork

This is a really simple easter artwork project, suitable for pre-school or primary school age children.  We did this a few weeks ago as Isla’s entry for her school Spring artwork competition. Read on to find out how we got on.

For our little artwork project I gave both kids an A4 sheet of blue card, and then I cut a green piece of A4 card in half length ways.  We then cut one of the edges of the green card to look like hills.  Isla is pretty good with the scissors, but I did the cutting for Oliver.  We stuck the green card onto the blue to make our background.

We made our eggs from cutting out an egg shape from white paper (I helped with drawing the egg shape).  Isla choose to decorate her egg with felt pens, but Oliver decide to leave his plain.

Next we made our easter chicks by cutting out a shape from yellow card.  I made a couple of beaks from some orange card, and the kids stuck them on to the chicks along with some google eyes.

Then the bit that the kids love the most, sticking the shapes onto the background to create our masterpieces!

Isla went on to glue some feathers to her chick.  She also wanted to add a flower, so we glued a mini cupcake case to the background, and Isla drew the rest to make a pretty flower.

She also went on to draw some birds in the sky.  Oliver decide to leave his plain.  To be honest he often gets bored very quickly, and with any project like this his involvement time is usually less than the time it takes for me to set them up! So I was very impressed that he got this far.

That’s it! A very simple but effective easter artwork project that even very little kids can enjoy, providing you do the cutting for them.

I am pleased to say that Isla’s picture also did very well in the school Spring artwork competition, and she came second in her class which included foundation stage and years 1 and 2.  She was super chuffed, and got a colouring book and some bunny bubbles for her effort. Mummy was also very proud of my little crafter.
