I love Halloween, and this year with a little more free time on my hands, I’ve gone all out!  The kids have loved helping with these simple Halloween crafts to decorate the house in time for our little party.  Here are 4 simple ideas for making Halloween inspired decorations that the kids can get involved with.

4 Simple Halloween Crafts to do with the Kids!

Mummy Jar Lanterns

You will need:

  • Glass jars
  • Googley eyes
  • PVA glue
  • White tape (we used electrical tape as we had it lying around)
  • LED candle

This is a really quick and simple craft. Take your glass jar and glue 2 googley eyes to it.  Then using whatever white tape you have start wrapping the jar from the bottom, allowing the eyes to poke out between the tape strips.  Leave to dry and your done! We used a little LED tealight to light up our lanterns.

Toilet Roll Bats

You will need:

  • Toilet rolls
  • Black Paint
  • Black and white card
  • Googley eyes
  • Pom poms (optional)
  • PVA glue
  • Black cotton to hang

Pinch the ends of the toilet roll to make a bat shape, and paint them black. Cut out wing shapes from card, and attach them to the back of the toilet roll when dry. Glue on googley eyes and small black pom poms for noses.  Cut out mouths with fangs from white card and glue them on.  When dry they can be hung using black cotton.

Halloween Bunting

You will need

  • Coloured card in orange, green and black
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Felt pens

This is a really simple one, that kids of all ages can enjoy.  I cut out triangles of card for the kids to decorate, and helped cut out shapes for them to stick onto the faces.  Finishing touches can be added with felt pens, pom poms, pipe cleaners and anything else you fancy! To make into bunting, after they were dry I used a hole punch and threaded through some garden twine to make a row of scary Halloween bunting.

Pipe Cleaner Spiders

You will need for each spider

  • 4 black pipe cleaners
  • Pair of googley eyes
  • PVA glue
  • Scissors

Cut 2 of the pipe cleaners in half to make 4 smaller lengths.  Wrap the other 2 pipe cleaners around the centre to make the spider body.  Fold the 4 lengths either side of the body into spiders leg shapes.  Glue on your googley eyes! When dry display as you wish, we choose to make a wool web across our mirror for one of the spiders to hang out in, the others were dotted around the living room.  This is a really simple non messy craft for the kids to do!

We had great fun making these Halloween themed crafts for our party, what do you  think? What have you been making this Halloween?
