Simple Ribbon Hair Band

This is a very simple how to.  This ribbon hair band can be made with only a few tools, and all the necessary materials are easily obtainable at your local haberdashery or fabric shop. It made my little princess very happy!

Simple Ribbon Hair Band

Materials:

  • 2 metres blue ribbon (approximately 1cm wide)
  • 1 metre of white ribbon (approximately 1 cm wide)
  • Large sequin
  • Rhinestones/plastic gems to decorate
  • Glue gun (or fabric glue- but I didn’t have any of this)
  • Scissors
  • Plain plastic hair bandimage

Method:

  1. Cut three 20cm lengths of blue ribbon, and three 18cm lengths of the white ribbon.
  2. Fold each length of ribbon into a figure of 8, with the loose ends at the back and secure with a blob of glue (see picture) and leave to dry.
  3. When dry, glue the blue ribbon figure of 8s at the centre to make a flower shape and repeat with the white ribbon of 8s, and leave to dry.
  4. Using glue at the centre again secure the white ribbon flower to the blue and glue the large sequin to the centre and then glue a rhinestone on top, allow to dry.
  5. Meanwhile, glue the end of the remaining blue ribbon to the end of the hairband as shown in the picture. Carefully tightly wrap the length on the ribbon around the hairband evenly, securing at the other end with a blob of glue.
  6. When dry, glue the ribbon flower to the band in the desired location.  At this stage the band is done, but we choose to use our leftover rhinestones to decorate the band (at my daughters request).

There you have it, a very simple but effective way of creating a beautiful sparkly hair band, worthy of any ones little princess, it certainly pleased mine xx
